If you have gotten a stain
If your wool garment gets a stain, you usually don’t need to wash the entire item. Often, it’s enough to treat just the area where the stain is. Start by identifying the type of stain. Gently remove any residue with a spoon or a blunt knife.
Wet the area around the stain with cold water and carefully work from the outer edge toward the center to prevent the stain from spreading. Use a soft cloth or brush and a mild detergent, preferably a wool detergent or a liquid detergent without enzymes.
If necessary, the garment can then be washed on a wool cycle, but always check the care label first. If the stain is difficult to remove, it may be wise to seek help from a specialist.
