When most of the work is gathered under the same roof, we can work closely throughout the entire process – from the first idea and prototype to
finished knitted material.

Every garment starts with an idea. It can be a color, a feeling, a function, or a new silhouette. In the development process, we follow trends in yarn and materials, listen to our customers, and work closely with our knitting technician Mattias to create new products.

Once the design is finalized, our knitting technician programs the machines. This is where the foundation is laid for how the garment or material will be constructed, focusing on function, fit, material efficiency, and appearance.

In our factory in Gällstad, we either knit fabric by the meter or individual parts, such as sleeves, front, and back pieces.

Different machines are used for different structures and qualities, depending on the result we want to achieve.

Having the knitting done in-house gives us good control over both execution and quality.

Meyzad

After knitting, the material to be felted is gathered and moves on to washing and drying. There, it is processed to achieve the right size, texture, and feel. Afterwards, the material is pressed and rolled up before the next
step in the process.

In Ivanhoe’s 80th anniversary collection, 1946, we present a completely new quality in undyed felted wool. Gällstad Teddy!

The knitted material is then sent to our partner factories in Poland and the Baltics for cutting and sewing. In our own sewing room, Karin and Marita mainly work with prototypes, small series, and accessories. There is also the possibility to add, for example, embroidery in smaller series.

When the garments are finished, they return to our warehouse in Gällstad. There, each order is handled manually by our staff (mainly Karin). This allows us to work closely with both the products and the process, with care in every delivery.
