100% knitted merino wool
Merino wool comes from the merino sheep and is a special wool quality known and appreciated for its soft and comfortable feel against the skin.
The softness and fineness of the wool are measured in microns, which correspond to thousandths of a millimeter. The micron count indicates the fiber's diameter. The lower the micron count, the thinner and softer the wool fiber is, and the less it itches. In our flat-knit garments, we use merino wool with a fiber fineness of 19.5 microns, compared to 26.5–27 microns for our regular wool.
The threshold at which wool fibers are perceived as prickly or itchy against the skin generally lies around 25–28 microns.
In our flat-knit merino wool models, we use merino wool produced according to the Responsible Wool Standard. RWS is a standard linked to animal welfare and responsible practices in wool production and naturally includes requirements that the wool is mulesing-free.
